The squirrels were playing with acorns today, laughing at the chipmunks, who were most upset with the squirrels for not taking winter seriously. Leaves are dry and rustly in the wind. The trees are holding their breath, ready to paint the forest with reds and yellows.

The (hopeful) purchasers of our home came back with a professional to inspect stuff. I vacated the premises and sat with my neighbour. Since 2008 we've laughed, cried, shared joys and sorrows. Today she stage-whispered, "Are the new owners white?"
