Yes, it was worse when I was on crutches with a one year old and a three year old, except I was younger so it hurt less 😭…

Annoying things you can’t do on crutches: Laundry. Grocery shopping. Walk the dog. <sigh>

One of the lessons I discuss in "On Tyranny":
Listen for dangerous words.
Text card: Listen for dangerous words.
Be alert to the use of the words extremism and terrorism. Be alive to the fatal notions of emergency and exception. Be angry about the treacherous use of patriotic vocabulary.

This morning, the Trump Administration’s Department of War gave me an ultimatum: call up your troops, or we will. It is absolutely outrageous and un-American to demand a Governor send military troops within our own borders and against our will.

"We did not design our democracies for this. We are a long way from the democratic agora of antiquity. And so, if we Europeans do not wake up and say, ‘We want to take back control of our democracies,’ I can tell you this: within 10 years..."

Macron remarks are notable- some quotes: "We have been incredibly naive in entrusting our democratic space to social networks that are controlled either by large American entrepreneurs or large Chinese companies, whose interests are not at all the survival or proper functioning of our democracies."

President Macron: “Europeans, let's wake up!

We have been incredibly naive in entrusting our democratic space to social networks.”

No accountability for the MOVE bombing in Philly was one of the stepping stones for what’s happening in DC, Chicago, LA, Memphis right now.

Thank you. I wanted to know what the problem was but could not bring myself to read what was obviously just an incredibly wrong and stupid article.

Taking the name of the Lord in vain was always the most terrible swearing possible when I was growing up. My parents do not swear.

Are we going to see mass resignations from military officers? Everything Hegseth is saying is basically the opposite of how the world’s most powerful military actually works.

These people have a lot of difficulty understanding the difference between movies and real life. Access to AI is not helping them.

Your rapture jokes are fine, they are funny, I will not try to take them from you. Some of us grew up with real rapture trauma, though. The world is going to end, what is the point? “The countdown’s getting lower every day” song… Will I be left behind? It was a lot.

One of the most dangerous things they are doing is taking our words. When they take our words and obliterate the meaning of language, we lose not just the right to speech, but the actual mechanisms of speech.

Debate is a skill that is only good for democracy if it is built on shared knowledge and values. What passes for debate among authoritarians is pure sophistry; no amount of skill-building by the left will get them to agree to use factual information or share a belief in a diverse democracy.
