Post Anubis go live we haven’t seen a single down time on the site.

Here's our monitoring graph for this site. Red bars indicate where the server was unable to handle all requests within our timeout setting.
A line graph titled “Response time” showing response latency over a 24-hour period from October 2, 12:27 to October 3, 12:27. The vertical axis ranges from 0 ms to 781 ms. The green line represents response times, fluctuating mostly between 200 ms and 500 ms, with occasional peaks and dips. Red vertical bars indicate periods of errors or issues. Toward the right end of the graph, response times drop and stabilize at a lower range around 200 ms or less.

One of our hosted sites is under constant attack from scraper bots. We've implemented the open source tech Anubis and now the site is much more stable.

Seeing as I'm praising publishers today, I sent out some decisions for our special issue on open research for HSS and @janewayolh.bsky.social is really excellent to work with.

Check out something we've been working on with the awesome team @carbonplan.org

We wanted @cdrxiv.org to have a distinctive design built on a reliable, open source publishing software. Getting both required collaboration with @janewayolh.bsky.social to overcome technical challenges. Here's how we did it: carbonplan.org/blog/cdrxiv-...

CDRXIV @cdrxiv.org · May 14
Introducing CDRXIV, a central hub for preprints and data on carbon dioxide removal (CDR). Our goal is to make it easier for CDR research to be shared and discovered by researchers in academia and industry. CDRXIV was built by @carbonplan.org. Read more about it here: carbonplan.org/blog/cdrxiv-...

Really exciting to see another preprint archive launch. In this case the CDRXIV site is backed by Janeway with content being pulled from our API.

Climate change is happening quickly. Solutions research needs to move at a speed that meets the challenge. We're launching @cdrxiv.org, a new preprint server for CDR research, because transparency and collaboration help move the field forward. Let’s make better CDR, together: cdrxiv.org

For any of my @stirlingpublishing.bsky.social students not already convinced of the wisdom of OCR-ing the columns of their patent separately, I hope that this will do the trick. :-D

Really good stuff from @siobhanh.bsky.social on the absolutely bleak Clarivate announcement.

A must read on the Clarivate announcement to end perpetual access to print, e-books, & digital collections by end of year. Siobhan Haimé suggests this disaster for libraries could be “an opportunity to radically explore alternative models to protect equitable access.”
