Looked at our discord after some months.
It amazes me how some gamers have this idea that they know exactly what goes on in companies, somehow.
The devs who came up with Hobo are still at Perun, Kromlech was their idea.

Was reminded of these "magic mushrooms" I did for a TTRPG book in...oh, god, 2018.
I was super exhausted and sleep-deprived at the time, but I remember the process itself being unusually easy and fun.

It's not always just iterations, you also need high numbers/volume of things. (but also iterations)
But generally, yes, 3D artists ideally need the concept to be clear and possible in 3D, otherwise the burden falls to them to basically redesign it on top of their own work.

In the 1948 film "Portrait of Jennie" a starving artist is trying to sell some paintings to a gallery.
And he's told no, they don't want his landscapes and sketches and flowers.
Because while technically competent, he didn't "care" about them. It's the result of pure desperation and hunger.

Many games and other media do cloaks and capes wrong, because it's easier to make them work that way.
I made this diagram/explanation of how they function in real life, for our 3D artists. (in Czech only, sorry!)

Here's my review from the time I played it btw:

It is a great shame that only a handful of episodes survive from the Peter Cushing Sherlock Holmes series.
(and apparently he had a bad time making it, as they ran over budget and out of time)
He's amazing in the role though!
As the youths say - he could definitely get it.

I was surprised to learn of a recent (2020) edition of Beowulf, a new Czech translation. Since i didn't own a Cz version, I bought it and didn't expect much.
Turns out - it's absolutely lovely! Nice paper, clothbound hardback, two colour printing, heavily annotated + cool art - for 33 (!) USD.

Oh hey, looks like they were reused in Hundra a year later!
Recycling, very nice.

LMAO, what was that about big companies shamelessly taking fan creations? :D (and usually doing it worse)

Pinterest just threw this photo of a prop at me and my brain immediately went: "That's the armour of king Osric's guard from the 1982 Conan movie."
(screencap as proof)
Maybe I should worry, this much sords and sorc on the brain might not be healthy.

Hah, fun thing I just noticed. Nick Brimble (excellent name btw) who was later Little John in the Prince of Thieves movie, also played a knight in Robin of Sherwood. (the "Swords of Wayland" two-parter.)
What a great face!

And here's the (rather quickly made) painting I did for the trailer's thumbnail:

It. Keeps. Getting. Worse.
HOW?!! Could we just...I don't know, shoot a quick vlog telling players what the game will be like?
Like...I have other shit to do.
(jk, jk, it'll work somehow. Don't do trailers, kids.)

Hounds of Lucifer
(from a Robin of Sherwood episode called "The Swords of Wayland")
(just watched that yesterday - evil silhouetted riders always work.)

Saw it on the NESS discord - Immediately recognizable style, very good cover.

Might as well post it again, because it's so dumb. In 2016 Fatshark stole a design I drew for an elven sword. (for the first Vermintide)
When i emailed them about it, all I got back was some PR bullshit about great minds thinking alike or whatever.

It's slightly surreal to see the poster I painted for Kvark plastered all over these YT thumbnails.
(we just released in on consoles, btw)
I had to giggle a bit, because of the inexplicable dill bushes in the foreground.
(I still don't get why there's dill featured in the game, it just is.)

The model has hundreds of thousands of polygons (incredibly fine hair cards, so it's properly fluffy), but the wolf just looks like a big soft puppy - not threatening at all. There's 0 stylization you'd want - look at almost any RPG and their wolves will not be realistic at all.
