It’s the same process as voting outside your electorate - a special vote is basically voting when you’re not on the printed roll at the voting place you vote at.

If you enrol after Writ Day (but before the enrolment cutoff) you won’t be on the printed roll at voting places, which means you need to make a special vote. That just means filling out an extra form so your enrolment can be confirmed. You can make a special vote throughout the voting period.

If you enrol after 4 October, you’ll need to make a special vote. And of course if you enrol after 25 October (the day before voting starts) you won’t be able to vote at all. vote.nz/2026-general...

Last day to enrol or update your address will be the day before voting starts - so 25 October. Last day to change rolls if you’re already enrolled is 6 August (but if you’re enrolling for the first time you can still choose either roll until 25 Oct). vote.nz/2026-general...

if you would like your buns to be golden and glossy like these (not a euphemism) then I recommend brushing them with egg white; however if you do not do eggs then I understand that pea protein is a suitable substitute
