There _is_ pedestrian access under the interchange (at least there will be when they're finally finished with it), and the 9 runs every 15 minutes, and this _could_ be an opportunity to improve things and the city should have pushed that.

Granted, the Food Lion is a few blocks away, but this doesn't serve the locals in any significant way.

With all the new apartments/condos/houses popping up along that corridor, you could have something really exciting that that supports multiple modes of transportation - imagine a grocery store you could walk/bike to! - but instead they've gone with a handful of places you'd visit weekly, if that.
