This is 100% true and I thought this very thing today.

Not for Furling and Heggem we didn’t. We had one bidder and one bidder only. And we need the money, especially given he’s an academy product. Only way we could’ve got more was an auction but no one else came in.

Aye. Looks like just Southampton this time round. They also know we need cash. And he’s not at the level yet to attract an auction of bigger clubs to push the price up. Feels like his ceiling is the Championship to me. Hopefully, I’m wrong and we get a nice sell on chunk further down the line.

I absolutely acknowledge the downsides but it is also an amazing gift to have as well. And your work on here and Twitter really showcases it. PS: The @blindboyboatclub.bsky.social podcasts are a great touch point. Like you, he discovered his autism later in life and he talks about it so clearly.

What an incredible post. I’ve followed your work for a long time now, and as a neurotypical person I am relentlessly astonished by the data and patterns you share on here. I have no idea how you do that - well I guess I do now…

Absolutely agree with that approach. Just wish we were looking at someone who had done that at first team level. Even if it was further down the pyramid.

He might be, but the chances are slim. Every appointment is a risk but it’s much, much bigger when they’ve never been a head coach before. You’re right about the fanbase; fingers crossed he gets off to a really good start.

Feels it. I’m all for young managers but I’d like to see a trajectory first. Many, many more assistant managers fail in their first role than succeed.

Oi, you leave Admiral Fitzwallace out of this.
February 22, 2025 at 11:05 AM
Aye. He left us in a much, much better place then when he found us. And went on to a bigger job. Everyone involved wins.

He’s quite tongue in cheek on the Twitter. I didn’t mind him. But the documentary is weird. And a bit sad. Defo worth a watch.
