Fun fact, the US Senate ratified the NATO treaty July 25, 1949. It is the supreme Law of the Land under Article VI of the Constitution. In 2024, Congress passed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) which expressly prohibits the President from withdrawing from NATO without a 2/3 Senate vote.

It is galling for this puritanical pixie, who has the secular power to (1) prevent deaths in floods by making sure the National Weather Service is funded; and (2) help now by making sure FEMA is funded, to pretend that all we have as a nation to respond to disasters is the free placebo of prayer.
