For example:

- Everyone is able to get their basic needs met (water, food, healthcare, etc.) without requiring productivity.
- People are free to pursue their interests, insofar as they are not unduly disrupting others
- a fair justice system built on rehabilitation rather than punitive measures

Some More News discussed this in their recent episode too.

More people should be asked what their vision of a utopia is; not because it's supposed to be achievable, but because it gives you a window into what kind of world they actually want.

If you don't want to run a Nazi bar, don't let the Nazi's into the bar.

You are correct. Short-sighted decision-making (whether that be in the form of short-sighted sales or confrontation avoidance) often frustrates long-term growth and stability.

Synopsis: You need to kick more people out.

You will actually have a larger base of customers/attendees if you kick more people out. You will make more money. I am dead serious.

Plato is correct that the best form of government is a benevolent dictatorship (as it would be with the Philopher King(s) in charge); however, it is nothing but utopic fanfiction and should not be the basis for actual policy making.

I'm almost there, it's pretty incredible and I understand why it won goty.

Canada is too resource rich to be ignored, especially as climate change further disrupts the ecosystem.

It is not next on the list, but I guarantee you it is there somewhere.

Fascist imperialism requires fuel and, due to the deal struck with the wealthy, that fuel will not be supplied by them.

It begins with domestic imperialism and then moves outwards, and Venezuela is the first step of that outward direction.

I've tried to explain to folks how conservative governments are not only unproductive, but insidiously and destructively so.

Reading between the lines, this is an excellent way to avoid solving the problem (while 'doing something'), and gives the opportunity to further demonize higher education.

I'm not super well-versed in the fighting game scene, but do you have some examples?

I guess I'm also curious, how would place Smash Bros on this spectrum?

Probably a stern finger wagging and a half-hearted legal case that would get cancelled before going anywhere.

They benefit from the status quo and have internalized the desire to protect it.

I find reactionary centrism often comes down to a lack a imagination; they cannot see a situation that would be better for themselves outside the status quo and limit themselves to advancing within it.

It's the Canadian way! Just politely ignore an issue while vainly hoping it'll resolve itself.

See: the treatment of indigenous people, Quebec, Alberta, the housing market, healthcare, etc.

I agree that this is rather boring, and I generally attribute it to 2 things: 'one-ups-manship' or awkward social style.

The latter is just someone trying to relate, but lacks certain social skills. The former is more annoying imo, it's the person who views conversation as some kind of competition.

I'd say it's a toss-up between this and NFTs if we are talking purely in terms of utility.

However, I think the push that genAI is being given from corpos makes it worse overall. It's been forced on to the consumer at every turn, with propagandists working overtime to convince people it's good.
