I’ve already watched one too many Thomas Frank Spurs games in 2026

Giant of the industry with an imperious legacy. Very sad news

It can’t be *nine* game awards good can it?! I have it preloaded but haven’t hit start yet - and it’s been looking at me for about five months. I’ll take the plunge soon but don’t expect me to finish it before 2027. Bit time poor since my daughter arrived last year

Making my return to writing and veering away from my newsletter’s raison d’etre… here I am having a moan about football slop and the low-hanging fruit we’re surely ready to move away from 🙏 open.substack.com/pub/jayjaffa...

Brilliant title fight last night at #UFC323. Highlight being the body kick at 5.06 here. Sounded like a gunshot 😦: www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRIn...

Hmmm. Did anyone want this? I’ll investigate so you don’t have to:

Still the case. Actually getting worse week by week. If this is what a serious football club looks like I want to be stupid and chaotic again. Clueless stuff from the first minute.
Football is meant to be entertaining and/or fun. I am having zero fun watching Frank’s Spurs. It is mind-numbingly boring stuff at the moment.

Love Tim Urban. Love this. Very amusing insight into what I’ve got coming approximately a year from now: waitbutwhy.com/2025/10/todd...
Tales from Toddlerhood
A two-year-old is a supremely strange person.

By my calculations, this is the first time in Football Manager history that I've not been there for the Beta. Not downloading immediately, not setting up a file in a Balkan backwater. If this is what 40-years-old means... I'm not sure I like it. But good luck all. Go well.

I could watch Alan Carr as a Traitor for the rest of my days tbh

Bad performance (again). Good resilience (again). Still a lot to come (I hope) from Frank's Tottenham

Huge news and yeah, instinct is this is not good news for gamers. Not good at all. Can't imagine FC or Madden will see drastic changes as two of their biggest cash cows - expect monetisation of FUT and MUT will be turned up a few notches at least. A lot of jobs will be vanishing too. Bad bad bad.
It’s official: EA is going private.

The leveraged buyout will be financed by a staggering $20 billion of debt, which likely means some *aggressive* cost cutting is ahead for EA in the coming months and years.

Lovely stroll down memory lane with this piece of writing. I don't remember the moment I saw this particular glitch - guess it would have been early 90s - but there really was something special about discovering something like this (often just through word of mouth) www.bbc.co.uk/culture/arti...
'It reinforced the idea that anything can happen': The glitch in Super Mario Bros that obsessed gamers
Forty years ago, the series' original game was released by Nintendo. As well as trying to complete it, fans were desperate to access a secret world that became legendary.

Ugly performance, good result. It’s early days but feel like we’ll be saying that a lot this season. Seem to be relying on moments of magic from Xavi/Kudus/Bergvall and set pieces, which is fine…when you’re winning. Win is a win though

Fulham signing Kevin and George on deadline day really is the stuff of dreams. Lovely work in west London

Can't make it to Spurs today but what a splendid weekend ahead. Wall-to-wall football, F1 back after the summer break, probably something else massive I'm missing too. Lovely weather! Cold and crisp, just how we like the end-of-summer transition 🍃

Hideous week for hideous platform Kick. Rampage Jackson's son should be tried for attempted murder, let alone face a ban from the streaming platform. This follows Jean Pormanove's death a few days ago. All in all...a dreadful place, hosting dreadful people, with very little moderation. Ban.

Oh we're a serious outfit again. Got to back Frank in the last week or so of the window. Go and get Savinho + one other and it's title challenge territory. COYS

Delighted for Richarlison today. Encouraged by that second half too. Mainly excited thinking about Kudus, Eze and Savinho in the same team. How much flair is too much flair? Is it even possible to have too much flair? God we’re going to love Kudus
August 16, 2025 at 5:43 PM
Amazing really. Was so sick of the Premier League and football in general a few months ago. Then the Europa win, new manager, Kudus, the Super Cup performance etc. Now absolutely gagging for its return. And it’s back. Tonight! Then off to Spurs tomorrow! Lovely bit of business

Hard to put into words what Sonny has meant to us the last 10 years but I think if you zoom out a little you realise how rare it is for any football fan to witness a club legend’s story unfurl infront of you. Feel very lucky (and very sad) to have watched him every week. Special man, special player.

Does anyone know if a football club (Premier League, Football League, Europe, etc) uses Discord at all? Shower thought today is... that could be an interesting (and difficult) way to open up new channels to fans. Intrigued. Anyone know?
