Where the past meets the future, and the within meets the without, you will find me.

Genre aficionado and aspiring author. Fantasy, scifi, prog rock, ancient civilizations.
Our travels brought us to the British Museum today- I could spend a week there.
I did learn a lot. For instance- the Elgin Marbles in real life, versus the Elgin Marbles in my head.

I grew up in the 70s and 80s and some things that I am eternally grateful that I got to experience are: Arthouse Cinemas, the Independent Comics explosion, and affordable concerts.

I noticed this fellow peeking down at me from a #Paris rooftop today. I wonder what his story is.

Time for a week in Paris, France! I’m not much into site seeing (we’ll manage a few iconic sites), but like to walk neighborhoods. Staying in St. Denis and on a random walk came across this mural in a working class neighborhood. I was stunned. Druillet is one of my favorite comic creators.

Name a hero you would never invite to dinner.

Nero Wolfe. First, he probably wouldn’t come and if he did your food would never live up to his standards and he would let you know it scathingly. Now if he invited me to his brownstone for dinner…

Traveling in non-English speaking countries, one has limited book choices. I was pleased to nab this. Never read Asher before and Wikipedia assured me this was a ‘standalone’ book. Ha! I’m piecing the backstory together & do like it, but it is hardly an entry point into his universe. #booksky #scifi

2026 Book 2: I finally finished this book. A mixed bag for sure, but its moments of sheer brilliance outweigh any complaints. I’ve not read enough challenging fiction lately (or enough frivolous non-fic?). I love my pulp, but I need to maintain a balance.

First read of 2026- Origins of the Sexual Impulse by Colin Wilson. This is part of his Outsider Cycle. I’ve never seen a physical copy I could afford, so I broke down read it digital. Not the strongest in the cycle, but helps cement his ideas on intentionality and phenomenology.

Who’s your favorite super-hero? (Without saying Superman or Spider-man)

Any superhero can shine or be dull or downright embarrassing depending on the creative team, but setting that aside there are some Doctor Strange runs that are pure gold.

I haven’t watched a Western in some time, hell I’ve fallen away from watching movies in favor of long form TV, but I enjoyed this flick last night and may have to find the time for more films again. #filmsky

The Coldfire Trilogy by C.S. Friedman is wonderful and sadly forgotten.
January 3, 2026 at 2:56 AM
Oh, it’s a reinvention, but for the worse IMO.

Not surprisingly, Harlan Ellison did it first- writing stories in the windows of bookshops.
