Attention university presidents and boards of trustees:

"Those who oppose authoritarianism have to play a different game, creating solidarity among an unwieldy coalition, which knows that if everyone holds together, they will surely succeed."

Reuters photographer Jonathan Ernst noticed that Bondi flipped open a file during the Senate hearing and he zoomed in.

Inside were her crib notes for attacking the senators.

The GOP now practicing Cliff's Notes Fascism

In other words, under oath Bondi was purely a performance.

Literally unconstitutional; Congress has the power of the purse under Article I. Trump is trying to create a personalist regime where every dollar of federal spending is allocated at his whim.

I guess we’re at the “desegregation was bad” op-Ed’s in NYT stage of MAGA’s campaign to create Jim Crow II.

This oped is actually pretty bad. Caldwell claims that “the military of the 2020s has been as overburdened by the imperatives of progressivism as schools were by the duties of racial integration in the 1970s” and that Hegseth “outlined a nuanced vision of the military’s purpose” in his speech.

"All nine institutions must reject this proposal: it is a thinly veiled attack on academic freedom; it is a test case for whether Trumpists can get away with demanding loyalty oaths; it exceeds the president’s powers to begin with..."

US universities must reject Trump’s ‘compact’. It is full of traps | Jan-Werner Müller
The administration is trying to make nine universities an offer they seemingly cannot refuse

My new op-ed with @lkfazio.bsky.social:

Trump sent a 'compact' to our universities. They should reject this devil's bargain.
Any institution that yields to these broad and intrusive demands would forever be subservient to the whims of the government.

NGL, I'm alarmed by the prospect of US Navy officers applauding the extra-judicial execution of "terrorists" (along with other parts of Trump's speech). We're watching the real-time politicization of the US military

Trump: "In recent weeks the Navy has supported our mission to blow the cartel terrorists the hell out of the water. You see that. And you know, there are no boats in the water anymore. We can't find any ... what we're doing is actually an act of kindness."

The media trots out the "deplorable" comment from a decade ago to castigate the left. Once a week now Trump implies that the military should destroy democrats, and it is just how things are.

Beyond the apparent suggestion here that the US would have won in Vietnam and Afghanistan if only it had committed more war crimes, this is very strange coming from Trump because:

1) The US was still fighting in Afghanistan in Trump 1.0.

2) Trump himself made the decision to get the hell out.
atrupar.com
Trump: "The problem with Vietnam, we, you know, we stopped fighting to win. We would've won easy. We would've won Afghanistan easy. We would've won every war easy. But we got politically correct. 'Oh, let's take it easy.' We're not politically correct anymore, just so you understand."

Again, if you think the creation of the Department of Defense in 1947 had anything to do with “woke” politics you should not be allowed to operate a car much less the entire American military.

Trump: "We won World War 1. We won World War 2. We won everything in between. We won everything before. And all of the sudden they decide to change the name. They went woke then too, you know. Woke is a long term. Word."

this is wild: while Stephen Miller's guy was in Minnesota for his uncle's funeral, somebody was able to see his entire phone and take pictures of his Signal group chats talking about military deployments to Portland, and brought them to the Strib (gift link: www.startribune.com/trump-offici...)
