if you want us out of sight and out of mind, fine - but the only two ways to achieve that are to exterminate us all (impossible, can't stop more of us being born) or to stop trying to exterminate us altogether (actually way less effort in the long run). it is literally not up to us. it's up to you.

I have to care about trans justice because my survival is contingent on it. trust me when I say that I also wish I could care as little as cis people do! but that option is not available to me.

I didn't make my identity political. my identity was made political.

I cannot opt out of being affected by violence against trans people. the choice lies entirely with the people perpetrating that violence. I do not have a say. short of detransition or death, I remain subject to the genocidal whim of a society that wants to exterminate me.

I would love nothing more than never to have to think about trans rights ever again, actually! it would make me so happy to never mention my identity to anyone except my doctor and people I want to tell. but as long as trans people remain targets of violence and hatred, I don't get a choice.

hmmm. do you think it's even remotely possible that while *your* individual gender identity isn't one of *your* priorities, it might be slightly more pressing a concern for people who can't opt out of being targeted on the basis of theirs?

functionally identical politics but with a veneer of civility/respectability that allows them to maintain a position of moral distance from the harm being inflicted, which is much more difficult when the other side so brazenly says all the quiet parts out loud!

it's always "fandom" to this type of profoundly shallow and uninteresting man when it's something they aren't into, and a "hobby" when it's something they like. I personally would rather die than be so utterly lacking in personality or intellectual curiosity, but I guess he's built different. 🤷🏽

I have typed the words "politics is not a team sport" to centrists so often that my autocomplete suggests them. they have no awareness of politics as material exercise of power. it's 100% about their chosen cult of personality, and as in any cult, loyalty is the only thing that matters.

currently midway through a west wing rewatch with my partner who has never seen it before and their partner who has seen it a million times (as I have), and am once again enjoying the mix of nostalgic fondness and deep-seated loathing/rage that is part and parcel of the sorkin viewing experience

also, super grateful to the public health system for making most of this free, because I think if I'd had to pay for all of these appointments and tests I would have simply given up and resigned myself to a short and pain-filled life 🙃

I have seen so many specialists this year and had so much medical imaging/pathology done and every single time the only thing that happens is they figure out another thing I don't have. which is useful, I guess, but how many more times do I have to do this before they figure out what's wrong

I have an MRI tomorrow to see if there's any other shit wrong with my back and pelvis that the CT scan didn't pick up, and I just feel like I'm going to go through all of these tests and appointments and still not get any useful answers
