ICYMI the word’s first formally-recognised climate refugees have started arriving in Australia from Tuvalu.
Their pain; our gain.
If only we rich countries had taken climate action sooner, they might still have their precious homelands.

Journalists: please don’t show his hateful divisive commentary as if it is valid, truthful & useful.

Today’s reason to be cheerful: whilst the LNP is lurching further towards conservatism, the electorate is moving towards progressive politics. The olds are being replaced by more thoughtful younger voters.

The headline gave me a good chuckle, but I think it’s actually wilful vandalism of our climate & social cohesion combined with the worst of populist dog whistles.
Luckily the self-destructive LNP is oblivious to the fact that Trump & Farage are incompatible with Australian politics.

Useful reminder from Eliza Northrop on the ongoing importance of listening, learning from and amplifying the voices of the people of the Pacific in the next 12 months and at COP31. theconversation.com/turkey-will-...
Turkey will host COP31, Australia will play a role. So where does that leave the Pacific?
Australia still has an opportunity to build its credibility on climate action. But it will also need to elevate Pacific-led perspectives and priorities.

Anyone see a disconnect between “just how ill-prepared both the state and federal governments were” re the SA algal bloom, compared with our utter lack of preparedness for a shipping lane closure. We have only 30 days of fuel reserve, yet there’s no rush to electrify transport.
