Hi! I’m a cartoonist from North Carolina. My current projects are Inoscularum, a love story about healing the world with folk magic, and The Sun & Moon Sisters, a 70s murder mystery about two psychic sisters.

What’s that one sneaky piece of media that’s unconsciously impacted your work WAY more than anything you outwardly obsess over?

Mine is Fruits Basket! It was the first long-form comic I ever read and it’s absolutely shaped the “language” of my comics in ways I can’t even fully articulate. 🐱🍙🐀

I'll go first: for me, honestly, it's Frankenstein. I read it ONCE 20 years ago in school. But everything I ever make keeps responding to it.

There’s no traditional inking problem that can’t be solved with a little meatspace cut ‘n paste!
I guess face transplants are becoming a #sunandmoonsisters tradition.

Details/explanation in alt text… don’t fear the ink, it’s a lot less scary than it seems!

A comic panel showing Theodora, a woman who is looking at her hands with a look of distressed confusion on her face. Part of her face has been whited out and inked over so many times that it’s no longer workable. Next to the panel is a page from my mini sketchbook where I’ve traced the shape of her face (I did this by holding both pieces of paper in front of a lamp). This page is where I’m going to draw and cut out her new face. Same deal as the last photo, but I’ve drawn her face on the page from my mini sketchbook. The new face is now cut out and glued on top of her old face, but hasn’t been blended in yet. Shout out to my buddy from college who gave me an x-acto with a swiveling blade, it really helps with shapes like this. The panel with her new face, now fully blended in and with the contrast boosted as shit to give you the full effect. Just another entry in the “don’t be afraid to mess up” catalog, brought to you by your local failwoman who never stops trying

It's the head of the Eraserhead Baby in place of a labubu doll's faceplate. The Eraserhead baby is disturbing. It kind of looks like a sheep fetus? But here it is, tucked in the furry little body of a bunny-like labubu. All these photos are in black & white, to be evocative of the Eraserhead movie.
