In the ancient #Roman world, even steelyard weights (counterbalances) could be made with first class artistry. Here, this bronze weight is shaped into the bust of a man, perhaps a Greek philosopher (or maybe the merchant!). 🏺 1/

Loving the 70s British zombie film set in the Lake District (or is it the Peak District?) vibes in THE LIVING DEAD IN MANCHESTER MORGUE. Also the redubbing of the dialogue adds an extra eerie air. The hair stylist steals the show though for the two main characters - how did they get it so shiny?
Ready for chills? Then join #CarolineMunro in THE CELLAR CLUB at 9pm for a classic episode of DOOMWATCH (1971) featuring #PatrickTroughton followed by the cult classic THE LIVING DEAD AT MANCHESTER MORGUE (1974) #TPTVsubtitles Don't be late, Caroline's waiting.

Alan Garner is 91 today. A brilliant and unique author. His books have inspired and enchanted me since I read The Weirdstone of Brisingamen at the age of 11. Here is my treasured copy of Red Shift. The Le Guin quote on the cover is wholly accurate.

I agree with John. It simply isn't cricket all this flag waving and shouting.

Saw this in the cinema tonight, funny to think it is set in 1934, 47 years before it was made, and here I am watching it 45 years later. Still a brilliant film with one of the most memorable effects driven end sequences ever.

Just watched this on ITVX actually really liked it, only small niggle should've kept the counting out the money bit, otherwise very entertaining. Luke the Nuke was unreal. Q. for @richardosman1.bsky.social was the 180 for real or a setup? I feel it was real based on audience and Freddie's reaction.

Day of the Jackal last episode:

1. How did he get from the boat to the land without getting caught by jet ski's, speed boats and a chopper?

2. How did he survive the second car crash?

The last one they even acknowledged in the bolt on end scene set-up for season 2.

Still very watchable.

Just saw this today, incredible one man performance. Conjured the larger than life Dickens grotesques from thin air. And the hand of the ghost of Christmas yet to come was very special indeed.
