One of the great unsung / underseen horror movies is Paperhouse (1988). It's very close to a masterpiece. A young girl, ill with a fever, finds that whatever she draws is manifested into the empty fields of her dreams, exactly as she drew it. Unfortunately, this is not all it's cracked up to be...

Every month or so I sit & watch a bunch of horror short films on Youtube.
One thing that's lacking is survival endings. Not a rule of course, but a sympathetic lead going through hell & making it out alive, if scarred, can be a far more powerful & satisfying ending than the overused "Boo! Got ya!"
