Pretty sure these filters are how the "next episode" buttons on Netflix animates the progress while changing from white to black.
One of my favourite UI patterns is using `backdrop-filter` to create a “frosted glass” effect.

When I see this effect in the wild, though, it’s almost never as lush and realistic as it could be. There’s an important optimization that nobody makes.

✨ I share the secret sauce in my brand-new post:
Next-level frosted glass with backdrop-filter • Josh W. Comeau
Glassy headers have become a core part of the “slick startup” UI toolkit, but they’re all missing that final 10% that really makes it shine. In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to create the most reali...

"All right, it's just a simple blog post about a basic, subtle visual effect. Pretty straightforward. No need to go too hard here."

During this time of year usually tons of people leave Santa Monica to go home for the holidays, this year that was not the case. My guess, people did not want to deal with heated family conversations after this last election

Should E2E test block? I'm a bit torn.

For an app with external API calls seems like an easy way to block deployment of something based on something that is potentially out of your control, or completely unrelated to the new code being deployed.

can confirm i like it even more now, i’ve been really feeling the productivity boost at last. the types barely get in the way, discriminated unions work very well, the assumption of no mutation mostly holds up in the kind of code i write. it’s not perfect but it’s been really useful and enjoyable
