Even more frustrating is pointing out that this is the leadership that failed to deal with the crisis and being told that now we can't criticize their failings because we are in a crisis.

Like Dick Durbin bringing back blue slips kind of stuff for fellowship and comity purposes

Yang is definitely one of the Twitter intelligentsia types you realize was acting out his mental health issues via posting much longer than anyone realized

The most ardent supporter of hers that I have interacted with on any regular basis was a rich New Yorker who was ostensibly a Democrat but was also the kind of rich guy who absolutely believed that "free speech" meant no one should get to criticize his garbage opinions, ever.

but the thread was thankfully preserved for posterity because it was an amazing look into what was happening from people who would never have been so frank in public.

rather than participate in what wats the obvious market chicanery around mortgage stuff. There were realtors, major developers, regulators, all walled-away on the "off topic" part of this wine forum basically arguing and live-blogging the beginning of the Great Recession. The forum is gone 2/?

One of the most fascinating forum things I witnessed was on a side forum of a large real names wine board during the 2008 collapse - there was a guy who began posting a blow-by-blow of what was happening in the financial sector - he worked for one of the big investment firms and stepped down 1/?

One of the things I learned from Twitter is that nothing was ever more reliable than a crazy post from an astroturfed GOP account that starts with the red siren emoji and BREAKING in all caps so when I see an alleged Dem source doing it I know it must be gospel true

The difference between how men see the protector role and how women see it was driven home to me when I got promoted to running the door at a very prominent, very busy club over a bunch of much "tougher" and more experienced guys. The reason, according to ownership, was the women tending bar 1/2

I loved these, when Covid hit they were the first titles I picked up on Steam for my then very creaky laptop when I decided to get back into some games. Great story, fairly balanced gameplay, really good worldbuilding
