The game needs a huge QoL overhaul, and the endgame puzzles would need to be designed for humans.

The game doesn't even have basic accessibility like colorblind support. I think there's something fundamentally off that would inhibit it reaching it's potential.

There's a part of me that sees the game as an incredible execution of making a product so polished up front that not even reviewers find the flaws. Then consumers experience the back half and realize, no, it's not actually a good game.

And it's that exact contradiction between what I experienced and what everyone else said that triggered me, I think. Well, I'm not going through that again.

I truly gave this game everything I had for weeks, and all I got in return were dead ends and a trauma response. 10-♾️/10

And the part that bothers me so much, is that at the start... it was great. Maybe even perfect. And it feels like that's the only part other people have seen, and all of the glowing reviews *have* to be of just the good part right?

Surely I must be the one who's wrong? I must've missed something?

It's got gaslighting (if you find a new clue, you'll know what to do!), it's got manipulation techniques through the guise of roguelikes (it even has literal slot machines), it demands perfection without directly saying that, and then doesn't give you the control you need to execute upon that.

I *know* that's probably a touch dramatic. I won't argue that.

But my experience so far with the Blue Prince has followed the exact same patterns I went through with my ex. It's uncanny to the point where I feel the need to put out these stupid posts. Show the red flags, as it were.

I had a bit of a mental breakdown yesterday as I realized @blueprincegame.bsky.social, a game I loved, had been wasting my time for 80+ hours, and that I wasn't enjoying it anymore.

And it finally clicked why I had SUCH a strong response:
