-I make interactive trick or treat experiences for 500 kids each Halloween. My fav was the haunted vending machine

FYI about the "wildly overestimated % of a small sub-population" data you may have seen:
a) seems to be from 2022
b) I hear tell that the 2022 ui design for this survey involved a slider defaulting to 50% which respondents had to drag left or right to estimate (visually, in part!) size of groups

YouGovAmerica data from 2022 on how Americans overestimate the size of minority groups and underestimate the size of majority groups
