New comic! Bringing loads of games to game night and only ending up playing one or two small ones... Who else does this? 😂

👀 You can read this week's blog post (it's a long one!) at
semicoop.com/comic/beast-of-burden/ #gamenight #boardgames
Two panels. Above the left, it says: "Games I brought to game night". We see Heinze carrying a very big and heavy backpack holding at least 15 games (it shows the outlines of the boxes through the bag). Above the right panel it says: "Games we played at game night". We see the same image of Heinze carrying the back pack with only one small game highlighted in the entire backpack.

Ouch! Luckily, we heard that Scout is great!

We have encountered no cats this week! 😭

(We have loads of dog owning friends and not enough cat owning friends!)

Playte has that High Society edition with the same art as the Osprey edition, so we can hope 🤞

Ooh that's a very cool idea!

Sardegna was the biggest surprise this week, it's a small box containing an engaging game that feels big.

It was anice to revisit Eldritch Horror (twice) after all these years. 🙂

Lastly, Middara has been great so far but its art style and (complex) rules prevent us from recommending it to people.
BG Stats 3 x 3.
Eldritch Horror;
Eldfall Chronicles;
Middara: Unintentional Malum – Act 1;
Sardegna;
Orapa Space;
Linko.

So far this has been a very fun read and it's still early enough in October to join in!

Tomorrow is October 1st, a great time to start reading Roger Zelazny's excellent A NIGHT IN THE LONESOME OCTOBER!

There's a short chapter for every day of the month, like a literary Halloween advent calendar. It's a charming supernatural mystery told from a dog's POV.

Easy choice. A Daf 55, a Dutch car with a Variomatic gearbox that made them as quick forward as in reverse.

Because of that we had reverse races with Dafs that make Joyride look like a racing simulator. 🤣

Tried Sardegna tonight and really enjoyed it! With the small L board version it's quite a 'big'-feeling euro in a small package.

Really enjoyed how the game has a 2nd phase in which all the resources have been farmed and the villagers turn from farmers into pawns that you use to gain influence.

It's a stripped down version in just 18 cards. It only retains the shoals and your 'strength' increases by catching low level fish. Most fish have a neat one time ability which makes the game a little more dynamic and strategic.

We think the game is best with three although it's still fun with two.

We played loads of small games while hiking in the Alps and Playte was kind enough to send a bunch of their games!

AMA if any of these catch your interest! #bgstats

The golden rule: do unto others as you’d have them do unto you, but if the rule on a card conflicts with this rule, follow the rules on the card

My nephew finally beat me at Pokemon At our yearly game. (I should have realised when we he asked which playmat I wanted, he stepped up his game.)

We finally played Adrenaline and enjoyed it a lot. Take Time has the potential to be a hit.

Playte also send us some games and we enjoyed those too.

New comic! 👀 Watch out... the walls (might) have ears! 👂 Did you ever have to take a beggar card in Agricola?

You can read this week's blog post at
www.semicoop.com/comic/feedin...
An elderly woman presses a drinking glass to a wall to eavesdrop. Off-panel voices shout game-complaints about food (“Crisis! … There’s not enough food … I refuse to be a beggar!”); she responds “Oh.” Caption: “After having played Agricola last night.” Next panel, she carefully offers to get some bread from the market for her neighbour Rachel, who looks surprised and a bit shocked.

Honestly, we should get further into BattleCON: Devastation of Indines that just it's first six fighters before looking at getting other L99 Games...

We have played Millenium Blades at someone else's house tough and that game is simply glorious.
