It’s amazing to find out at this late date how much the rule of law depended on people simply deciding, on a voluntary, daily basis, not to break the law.

On 6 June 1944, while Americans were fighting at Omaha Beach, Canadians were fighting at Juno Beach. Our brothers, who fought and died by our side – who helped us defeat Fascism, are not our enemy. They are our true friends. Canadians are our brothers and sisters and I stand with them 100%.
