Ugh....I'm really trying very hard to stay positive but I gotta say, it's getting harder and harder. I'm 57 years old, and I KNOW it's not supposed to be like this. I feel like every corner of our country is in shambles. I'm a genuine GenX so I know how to survive, but FFS, enough already!!!

Just read that Barnes and Noble is opening a handful of stores in the Chgo area....personally, I have missed bookstores. There is a smattering of small bookstores here and there...my favorite time suck. 3 hours evaporate like magic every time I go in one of them.

Good morning! It's been a really long week. The NAACP has issued a travel advisory...for Florida. The USPS advised carriers to carry their essential services letter with them. There may or may not be a bill pending to allow ICE to "demand your papers". Can't find anything on that, but who knows.

Per an article in the Guardian, 32 people died while in ICE custody in 2025, and the NY Times reports that 9 people were shot at (while in their vehicles) by ICE since September of 2025. All 9 incidents report the driver allegedly "weaponizing their vehicles". So, no, it's not going to get better.

Heather Cox Richardson's idea, it's a great idea. Call, and call repeatedly, Republican reps/senators and tell them, in no uncertain terms, NOW is the time to act, if you do not stop this, I will make sure I never vote for your party again, and make sure everyone I know doesn't either.

I know I cannot be the only person who is absolutely gobsmacked over the fact that there is literally zero customer service for anything anymore. I don't care if it's trying to get product support or to make a Dr. appointment, you end up on hold for hours, only to find they can't help you anyway.

Here's a weird random-ish thought...Venezuela owes China a lot of money apparently..they had an agreement to repay that with their oil. Im guessing China won't be happy about this. Trump will likely offer to sell it to them? China can do in the US w/o military action by cutting the supply chain.

My husband and I have marketplace insurance. Right now we pay $425 a month for high deductible, huge out of pocket, 30% co insurance. W/o the APTC, premium would be $2213 a month. Gonna be a no for us. And on the healthcare dot gov site this popped up, wasn't there before.

Trumps biggest fear is irrelevance. Let's see how irrelevant we can make him. DO NOT engage with ICE or the national guard. Ignore them and walk on by. He seriously gets off on this, I wouldn't give him the satisfaction.

I live in a collar county to Chicago, helicopters near here, so far, no one on the ground. I wonder if the "troops" are still here, how they'll like winter. Tons of snow, below zero wind chills. They can help shovel. Winter here builds character. When it's -20, no protests, immigrants usually leave.

This really pisses me off..in order to build Trumps gaudy nasty ball room, they cut down 200 year old trees by the White House. Think about that. 200 years ago, it was 1825. Look at what those trees have "seen", yet they had survived it all. Until a 34X convicted felon, liar, stole the WH...1/2

It now appears there will be a 50 billion dollar bailout for farmers, because the Trump tariffs hurt them. Can I get a bailout because Trumps 100% tariff on pharmaceuticals hurt me?
