Side note to the Welcome to the NHK thread. Watch episode 17, the one about the MLM. Just replace some key words with modern ones and you get the point. Pick your grifter and flavor of BS they're selling. It all hits back to capitalism and how hard it fails people, leaving them lonely to get by.

My depression is on 1000% right now so I'm rewatching Welcome to the NHK for the 50th time. This time I'm really paying attention to Misaki's perspective and how everyone in the show is honestly a NEET in some way. Misaki doesn't have a real job, she doesn't do anything serious, she sits at home

Yes, the story of MegaMan is part astro boy. MegaMan X is part Casshern. MegaMan ZX and Legends I can't put my finger on but I know they feel like some anime.

I really don't know how I feel about this MegaMan announcement. I love the series but I also know that at this point they can't continue the main timeline without rereleasing MegaMan Legends. I just want a true ending to that series and the overall story.

Avatar and Avatar: The Way of Water being the #1 and #3 highest grossing films and no one wants to acknowledge that they're basically animated movies. It's the same level as Who Framed Roger Rabbit. They're basically 90% CGI with some real humans sometimes. At what point can we call them cartoons?

I guess since I'm back online I should talk about K Pop demon hunters at some point. The only angle I can see myself taking that isn't taken by everyone else is maybe how much this affects animation around the world but mostly Japan. Maybe a bit about the Korean bubblegum crisis.

I just finished Elio and wow it was bad on so many levels. Let's get into it.
Story: this felt like it was written in that "Mars Needs Mom's" era of bad kids movies. Someone had a general idea "troubled kid wants out of his life and wants to go to space. He finds out he is loved on earth".

I'm from Louisville Kentucky and I get a serious sense of doom every time Umamusume gets popular. I just know you weird fucks are going to make the Kentucky Derby suck even harder then it already does. Someone is going to show up in cosplay next to Jack Harlow and it's going to hit the news.

I think I started to realize why I've been playing less Marvel Rivals at the start of this season. I don't think I've had a match that felt fair. At the start of the season it's all random skill levels b/c we all have to start there so it's a GM blasting me all day.

I think the best part about starting up Persona 5 (vanilla) for the first time this year is I have like 10 years of spinoffs and extras around the game I didn't experience. I have like 3 spinoff games, some new Phantom X thing and 2 upgraded versions of I want to replay it.

The only man who could take a confusing movie and make it even more confusing 🤣 Oshii was cooking but let it simmer for a little too long and the plot got mushy.

If you know me you know that Haibane Renmei is one of my favorite anime. I've used the official art book art as my wallpaper on most of my devices for years. So I've seen it all. So I don't know how I feel about all these new AI art upgrades. One hand, it looks great. On another it's all LIES.

Trying to will yourself out of sleep paralysis feels like a button mashing sequence that you're meant to fail. It's like you're jamming on the controller and the bar isn't moving so you're thinking "maybe I'm not hitting the buttons fast enough" or that the "controller" is "unplugged".
