I'm a media critic. I read and point to that which I criticize.
Please don't tell me the #BrokenTimes, #BrokenPost have paywalls and registration. We know.
Please don't tell me to stop reading.
If you don't want traffic to go to them, don't click.
We have more important things to worry about!

Excellent discussion. Banalization of evil by mass media is perfect diagnosis. Christian nationalist grifters stole mass media back in early radio days.!!

Here is why MTG is for extending the enhanced premium tax credits (EPTCs) for ACA marketplace plans.

In her district, GA14

there are 78,000 on ACA plans
74,000 receiving subsidies
the average increase in premiums would be 85%
for a 60-yr-old on a silver plan: 246%

I’ve been worried a lot that this is right. Gold is skyrocketing in value because the world is losing faith in the role of US as guarantor/backstop of global economy open.substack.com/pub/paulkrug...

Amen. I've spent my life working in media. I have regrets.

I made a resolution this mornjng to post at least one thing a day that isn’t about the political apocalypse. Mostly for my sanity but maybe yours, too! So this is another kitchen post but I’m slow cooking a pork shoulder in a West Indian rub.

This Rutgers professor and his wife, also a Rutgers prof, have been forced out of their home and classrooms by TPUSA. The story deserves greater attention.

Professor, you have been doing invaluable work. I hope it is clear that my complaint is with my own institution of American journalism for not sufficiently building on all you have done in this area. For those reading this thread, here is Dr. Butler's book: uncpress.org/978146968151...

Caldwell has also argued the Fed shouldn’t be independent and that the 14th Amendment should be repealed, and was a Claremont fellow. IOW, he’s an extreme right wing jerk. Great job, NYT.

#BrokenTimes praises racism, sexism: "Despite a raw vocabulary and some rude provocations, he outlined a nuanced vision of the military’s purpose and its relationship to civilian society."

People forget that some of the _first_ victims of totalitarian regimes are ideological allies who aren’t fervent enough. If you are clever enough to write an op ed this dumb, you are too clever to survive for long under totalitarianism.

Trump on pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell: Haven't heard the name in so long. I’ll take a look at it. I’ll speak to the DOJ. A lot of people have asked me for pardons.

Reporter: But she’s convicted of sex trafficking

Trump: I’ll have to take a look at it.

My God. This makes me so livid. Trump's people are who they are, but the media normalizes it and it's sickening.

I like that there’s not a single argument here for why discrimination makes the military more effective or even a frank admission that’s what he wants

Not to even get into the difference in coverage between the former and current president. Biden made the slightest wobble or stutter and it was all you heard about for forever. The current president has his obvious sundowning+dementia rambles and there's almost ✨️nothing✨️ said from most of the media.

PS: this whole thing reads like political commentary in reverse -- rather than condense and critique, it's a whole lot of words to complexify and mask otherwise obvious oversimplification & incompetence.
It's basically "here's what he meant to say" PR work.

"But the military of the 2020s has been as overburdened by the imperatives of progressivism as schools were by the duties of racial integration in the 1970s."

...so yes, if your premise is that desegregation was a bit too much of a hassle, then I guess the speech wasn't actually that bad.
