The Australian parliament is amending the country’s environment laws. Thanks to negotiating by the Greens, the amended laws will not enable the fast-tracking of coal and gas mining.
And yet, I am filled with foreboding.

The Albanese government will need to substantially ramp up its climate policies to meet its recently announced 2035 emissions reduction target, according to an official projection that says it will otherwise be missed by a huge margin.

Australia Institute research shows that Australia is expanding gas and coal, with 94 new fossil fuel projects in the pipeline.

We need stronger environmental laws that stop new coal and gas projects.

Disney/ABC have a responsibility to refuse to participate in corruption.

Kimmel must be reinstated. If Disney/ABC agree to this extortion then perhaps creatives + workers should consider collective action to push back. Same w/buying park + cruise tickets if they bow.

The 62-70% emissions target is a slap in the face to the people growing Australia’s food. It is nothing short of betrayal to farmers around the country and the generations who come after us.

If you want to read a new book coming out but don't want to buy it, a great thing you can do is ask your local library to order it. The more requests they get, the more likely they are to acquire it and then lots of people will get to read it who othewise wouldn't.

Musk and his right-wing cronies are not going to stop with the editors of high-grade scientific media outlets.

Their attacks are faux-outraged, in bad faith, and institutions should be immediately defending their staff, including their right to freely express their views on social media.
