This type of judicial research is another reason why we need to open PACER. Hidden biases must be rooted out and addressed, not buried in inaccessible data.
@maanvisingh.bsky.social found the story of a man who was tortured in Turkey and still had his asylum case denied. We found that the judge had only ever granted a single asylum case, one of the lowest rates of over 800 judges we reviewed
