If your client thinks you're really smart because you use lots of big words they don't understand, you are failing as an attorney (and maybe not that smart).

We talked a lot. And I realized I was good at explaining and translating lawyer into human. It’s not a bad thing to be able to walk someone through, and make sure they come out the other side.
And on the plaintiff’s side, I wasn’t great. Too risk averse. Too unsure. Lacked the soft skills.
