And they don’t realize how much they would benefit from even 10, 20% effort. I still think about the guy I had a fling with in law school.

He had this stack of fluffy, white towels. Like a impossibly well-laundered towels.

And his sheets and pillowcases were fresh each time.

It’s something about not wanting to put thought or effort into that realm. Like…the very experience of caring would be so dissonant, for them, that they put off even attempting to think about whether there is something to do about it.

George was just trying to get to work.

ICE pepper-sprayed him, dragged him from his car, locked him in a detention center, and placed him on suicide watch. He even missed his young daughter’s birthday in the process.

This man is a veteran and American citizen. Don't look away.

The kids are playing a game. One is saying that the other is under arrest, and the one in custody is saying, “I won’t talk without my attorney.” At this moment I’m a very proud parent/former public defender.

Wow. Greg Bovino admits on camera that his agents can detain people if you look scared, change your demeanor, or grip a steering wheel too tight.

As his unmasked agents walk around with large guns to scare you, they may arrest you just for that — even if you're a U.S. citizen.

(Anyway that’s my villain origin story. My husband’s uncle, longtime roofer, dying of cancer, was being sued. He was afraid his wife would be left with nothing, and needed someone to talk him through it. Making sure someone gets through this kind of crisis is something I can do.)

Subpoenas will go out today, jury instructions done long ago, impeachment mostly done, motions in limine will happen on the day of trial. (I don’t like it, but this is what this judge prefers).

Last week was other cases, nearly all are ready for hand-off.
