It’s kind of hilarious that Patel issued a statement saying the FBI would find those responsible and bring them to justice when the shooter was already taken into custody by the Metro DC police and there’s no reason to think he had help. He is so fucking terrible at this. What a joke of a man.

One of the reasons the courts have been skeptical of Trump’s National Guard deployments is that they were more likely to provoke disorder than prevent it. Looks like they were right. And yet Trump will use this shooting to deploy more Guardsmen, and the spiral of violence will only go higher.
