We nourished it up with a late dinner. Reclined on the couch, cats on laps now. Caught up with the Nebraska vs. Washington and Penn State vs. Wisconsin volleyball games. Onto the Aces post championship presser atm.

Made it home safely & decompressed from the trip a bit. Then it was time to head to our funeral home to clean up from a service we hosted today. We set up for tomorrow’s funeral for my Auntie’s Dad. I will rock funeral director & family member support for that service. Ash by my side with it all.. 🫶

It was a privilege to stand witness to gMa Mary in her life, & a privilege to stand in honor with her death.

My knowledge of Ash’s pre-me life & family has exponentially expanded in the most loving & vulnerable ways in the days since gMa’s death. It has been beautifully intense magnified by grief..

I’m so proud of how Ashley & I have been present to this grandiose grief. From gMa’s diagnosis, to her death in August, to the services this weekend. It has been an intense haul, but together it has been a portal hopping journey of death, grief, rebirth, etc. So many realms to it all, much to honor.

Our cry rags were used heavily. Ash’s written obituary was read at funeral & they were given many compliments on their words. For a situation where we worried Ashley & I wouldn’t even be in the obit, then asked to write it, delivered with utmost love, then Ash getting major props for the writing…

Quick trip for Iowa for Ash’s gMa matriarchs funeral. Overall, it was a much better experience than could have played out. Finding gratitude for that. Such an honor to be by Ash’s side during these moments. I intentionally attempted to take my mortician cap off to sink into griever & receiver of 🫶..

Need to pack for funeral 1 of the weekend with Ash’s gMa matriarch. It’s been a couple hours of crying it out. Ash got dropped some life facts in grief moments that make you ponder all of everything that is your life truth as you know it. Holding epic space, feeling my reactions, loving Ash up good.
