The journalist part of me still dreams about current events. Somehow, my brain managed to create a mashup of Black Sabbath's "Crazy Train" & Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire." That was an interesting thing to have going at full volume in my head when I woke up.

Do you ever wonder what cats think when they see us wandering around our houses in the dark at night, our arms outstretched and hands fumbling and waving as we search for light switches, glasses, lamps, doorframes, and beds?

We didn't know who was calling when the phone rang.
What’s a real thing from your childhood that kids these days would find completely foreign?

Like, how we used to be able to walk right up to the gate to meet our family coming off a flight.

Or how we had to pick a spot to meet at the theater BEFORE we went.

Hello…doing some research now on the increasing viral impact on people as we went super global as a potential driver of immune disregulation. I’ve got some good leads on the current state of research but if there’s anyone who knows anything they think I should know, please let me know!!

I got answers from my doctors. None of it is great news. (But also, none of it is fatal, so there's that.) Internet friends, hug me and tell me it'll be okay even if it doesn't feel true at the moment. #ChronicIllness

Everyone! I ate lemon pepper tuna for the first time since Jan., and it didn't make me sick! (I've been on a restricted diet because all food was mysteriously making me nauseated. No citric acid, caffeine, grease, red meat, gluten, dairy, peppermint, coffee, chocolate or fun.)

Today was my first short ride on my Christmas present. (Poor weather & poor health prevented earlier rides.) Happy to be well enough to tolerate a mile in hilly terrain. Now I'm exhausted.

Today's self-care: decluttering & cleaning my room ceiling-to-floor so I can have a peaceful sleeping space. Now, lunch while reading Jericho Brown's poetry. Then rest because I am out of spoons. Maybe fabric cutting later.

My poor pup suddenly developed a moderate heart murmur, and my cat has a tumor. 2025 is shaping up to be a real banger of a year.

It's like the year is a carnival ride gone wonky.

Chez George has turned into a furbaby nursing home. My 12yo cat has a tumor and will receive palliative care. My 8yo dog has suddenly developed a heart condition. (She may be ok with meds-- testing will reveal.)

These babies' golden years will he filled with love and fun.

It is a gray day. I am tired, sick, worried, and sad. But I am alive. I have that, and a God who loves me.

For this moment, that is enough.

I saw a police officer show respect and kindness to an unhoused man today. I was pleased with that.

I had a root canal in Jan. Pain never went away. On recheck #2 or 3 the doc said it wasn't his fault & dismissed me. Another dentist did X-rays yesterday & said the root canal wasn't complete. Meeting w/ a new endo in a week. I lost the winter & spring to suffering bc of that 1st doc's horrid-ness.

After 4 years, he has recovered from his TBI enough to skate again. He tells his story to anyone who will listen.

Today we replaced the outgrown helmet, shoes, and pads, and he is back at it.
