$80 Avatar popcorn bucket in LA. In this economy?

One thing I forget about LA is how many beautiful people exist here. Waitress is too pretty to be doing this job and she knows it, doesn’t crack a smile the whole meal.

I’ve only been in LA a few hours and have already seen too many of those mini Trader Joe’s bags.

Been following this story since the bite and the victim interview does not disappoint. Glad he’s ok and was just trying to help a shark out
A routine dive off a remote beach on Hawaii's Big Island turned into a painful lesson after a Kona fisherman was bitten while trying to free an entangled blacktip reef shark.

Went to the local supermarket where they didn’t have Christmas sprinkles for cookie decorations or candy canes, but the goth roses were available and in stock. Also they barricaded the self check out so 30 people waited for the cashier.

When I was in my early teens, if I didn‘t like the movie, I’d walk out and demand a refund. I dragged my friend out of Holy Man, which felt justified. But also Out of Sight, which I think is actually an OK movie. I can’t imagine doing this today.
Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?

Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.
It was hands-down one of the most memorable theater-going experiences I can remember, a collective 30-minute butt-clench/armrest-grab for the final climb. And we knew he lived! Wild.

Of course, normal handshakes don't involve the back of your hand in any way, shape, or form, so this is an obvious lie even by Trumpian standards.

What health issue does Trump have that the White House is so desperate to cover up?
Q: Can you explain what's going on with the bandages on Trump's hand?

LEAVITT: We've given you an explanation. The president is literally constantly shaking hands.

This is why I live in Chicago. I want four distinct seasons with weather. If you don’t like snow, there are so many other places you can live in the US. I never understood the complainers.

LFG baybe!!!!!!
With this weekend's snowstorm, Chicago is seeing the snowiest start to the winter season since 1978 — which is the snowiest winter in recorded history.

Heading to LA and I’m looking up places I went last year that have since been destroyed by the fire. I can’t look away. Here’s a house at a trailhead in Malibu - this house was so gaudy that it stuck in my memory and now it is gone. maps.app.goo.gl/XcN4wSqGvjtn...

Because they can just buy an SUV, right?
There have been multiple attempts to sell a modern station wagon to Americans, the problem is that almost nobody actually bought them

I’m so sad to read this - Bruce was so kind to me when I was a young staffer at the Trib and he was edit board editor.

Thank you to whoever scheduled this snowstorm in Chicago it has been an utter delight and I’ll take at least 5 more this winter please.

Last night my family bussed and walked through the storm. It was a delight to come across a man on a 2x4 plowing his block- we could do this in every Chicago ward! Sign me up!!
It boggles my mind that some winter cities clear roads but not sidewalks. It’s an enormous middle finger to pedestrians (ESPECIALLY strollers, wheelchairs, etc.) and indicator of car-centric thinking.

It doesn’t have to be like that! There are plows that can clear sidewalks! Here’s one in Ottawa.
