News: Columbia WBB has a new alternate uniform, inspired by New York City and designed by #Nike. It’s one of only a few programs in #NCAAWBB to get a special Nike alternate. The Lions will wear the uniforms at home vs. Brown (Monday), Princeton (2/13) and Harvard (3/7). @theixbasketball.bsky.social

Here are the Ivy League WBB NET rankings after an exciting weekend!

Columbia (69) passes Harvard (80) after winning in Cambridge. Brown jumps 13 spots but doesn't pass Penn after beating the Quakers in 2OT.

Ivy League WBB teams' NET rankings continue to shuffle after Day 1 of conference play. Not surprisingly, Cornell was the biggest riser (+22 spots) after beating Columbia. Yale also moved up 10 spots ahead of its opener today vs. Brown. @theixbasketball.bsky.social #NCAAWBB

Harvard WBB head coach Carrie Moore began her media call today by discussing the recent shooting at Brown & her sympathy for Brown, Brown WBB & HC Monique LeBlanc. She added later that the shooter being at large is unsettling; she's asked her team to use buddy system. @theixbasketball.bsky.social
“Really feeling and thinking of Mo and Brown and just their program, their athletic department, their university. … Monday morning, we had a film session, and [I] just really started it with, you know, it's our sister school. Our players have a lot of friends on that campus. I would call Mo a friend, and our assistants are close with some of their assistants. And so to just think of that being their reality right now is just really hard to swallow. And it … happened in an econ[omics] study session, and Gabby Anderson on our team constantly talks about her econ class and just how difficult it is, and she's constantly going to those type of things to prepare for her class. So I just — I don't know. It just really hit me pretty hard and just kind of shook me over the weekend, and just praying for them and really hoping that their campus community can recover from something like this.”

Here is this week's NET update for Ivy League WBB teams. Princeton leads the way at No. 34 - and made the AP top 25 today for the first time this season. Harvard and Columbia are Nos. 66 and 67.

Brown alum and USC head coach Lindsay Gottlieb began her postgame press conference tonight by addressing the shooting at Brown today. At least 2 people are dead and 8 injured.

"It doesn't need to be this way. Sending thoughts and prayers to my teammates who have kids there. To the parents who have to worry about their children...we're the only country that lives this way. The college football cycle has been in the news a million times, and are we going to report about this? Like it's the guns. We're the only country that lives this way," said Gottlieb while fighting back tears. She continued, "Parents should not have to be worried about their kids. I have a teammate who has a daughter who is in the basement of the library because she doesn't know what's going on there, and she's flying there tomorrow." Before commenting on the Trojan's performance against the Huskies, Gottlieb emphasized, "Hopefully everyone is safe and praying for peace for those that have lost people. And that's that, it's more important than basketball. We can all be better."

I asked Kiki Iriafen postgame about rocking a Chamique Holdsclaw shirt pregame. She said she didn't know the video, which was shown during a timeout, was coming. But she wanted to "pay homage" to Holdsclaw after breaking her rookie double-doubles record. @thenext.bsky.social #WNBA

I had to keep the story moving, so I didn't harp on these age gaps too much in the text, but this is crazy. The difference between the 2025 Mystics and the *median* #WNBA team by age is basically the same as between college freshmen and seniors.

(1/2) The Washington Mystics are looking to shoot in the first 8 seconds of possessions this season under new head coach Sydney Johnson. So I analyzed the data to see if they're getting enough early shots.

As it turns out, their shot timing looks pretty similar to last season.
