That’s very very sad. They were tough times.
Her mother died, her father deserted her. 2x/great-aunt was ‘sentenced’ to Children’s Home in Melbourne. Licensed out to a home where she was seriously abused. Tragic. Man was even jailed for it but it affected her all her life I gather.
