Our legal team have advised us to state that we had nothing to do with Ruth being in the Bronze Age.

The microphones have been on a few times this week so far... and we're almost finished recording Season Ten. No spoilers yet though! 🤐

The Rev Wright Willett of Waters Upton in 1834. 😬 #OnePlaceBaptisms
Extract from the baptism register of waters Upton (image from Findmypast) showing the record for William, described as the Adulterine of William Bentley, Labourer & Adulterer, and Mary Jones, Bigamist & Adulteress.

I was searching for a burial record and came across one for an 'illegitimate' child who was baptised in Cowbridge.

While the vicar has recorded the father's occupation as 'Labourer', the vicar recorded the mother's occupation as "Strumpet." 👀

A black-and-white document reading "Labourer" and "Strumpet."

A great commute into London, listening to @genejean.bsky.social return to @familyhistpod.bsky.social. It’s always fascinating to hear about brick walls being knocked down! And I’d completely forgotten about sending in a little contribution, so thanks to @familytreeuk.bsky.social for the name-check.
