I’m incredibly grateful to @goodlawproject.bsky.social for uncovering this - not just because the real impact of these bans needs to be known, but I think this is also an important piece of counter-gaslighting

No new pictures. Where are you at mentally?

A friend of mine sent me this tank top late last year (from the wonderful @sockdrawerheroes.bsky.social!) and honestly I’m taking such pride in wearing it when I walk into town this summer. Perfect afternoon for beers at the local!

Can you read?

A/S/L by @jeannethornton.bsky.social - I really liked this one. The perspective shifts between three characters who are all deeply imperfect in their own ways. A real good exploration of some ways trans femininity can manifest imo, with an ending that surprised me with how satisfying it was.

I can’t stop thinking about Wild Geese by @soula.bsky.social - I described it as Sad Girl Trans Lit meets Before Sunrise, I think this was a book I needed to read. Love that it takes place over a weekend - I feel like somehow, I got to know the characters more by having this limited view. Stunner!

Tiny Pieces of Skull by @rozkaveney.bsky.social is such a treasure to get to read - written in the late 80s it sat in manuscript form, untouched by publishers until 2015. A piece of our literary history I really enjoyed - and appreciated - reading

Books I’ve read in 2026, a thread:

Simplicity by @mattielubchansky.com is an absolutely gorgeous graphic novel with stunning illustrations (in general, and especially of trans bodies) and was such a beautiful and fun read

This is the energy I’m taking into 2026: unbothered, calm, reading one book after another, surrounded by snacks, no longer doomscrolling. Gorg weekend out at Peel Forest with my love to kick the year off!

Wild Geese by @soula.bsky.social has shot straight to the top of my all-time fave pile. Every time I read transfeminine lit i feel like i learn something about myself I wasn't fully conscious of, and this was no exception. It's like the introspective trans romance I never knew I needed

Picked up a stack of @thetransfemininereview.com recommendations from @christchurchlib.bsky.social ready to go off camping later in the week! This was half of my list and I honestly might tour the libraries this week to pick up the rest (cos these definitely aren’t more than enough already 🙄😅)

Started running 10 weeks ago after not running at all since maaaaybe field hockey in high school and this morning I smashed out my first ever 5k and feel absolutely great about it tbh

Went for it just in case the storm does in fact roll in, but also went for my first run outside of my neighbourhood specifically so I could run in max shade. Hagley Park looking gorg today!

Similar energy to this one I took of mum a few years ago (her taste in Christmas outfits obviously not changed)

It's such a blessing to have a partner who takes photos of you that you love and this is one of my new faves 🥹

It’s notable that Queensland today has basically done the exact same thing Aotearoa has: ignore their own commissioned report to instead align their practice with the UK, extending their ban until 2031 at the earliest. This from the Vine review’s executive summary is telling:
December 19, 2025 at 5:15 AM
Ōtautahi, tonight’s rally has been postponed due to a storm rolling in right on 6pm.
December 19, 2025 at 12:39 AM
Here are the headline paragraphs. The Ministry emphatically did not recommend this ban, and in fact repeatedly pointed out the significant level of harm it was likely to cause. The consultation found overwhelming support for continued access. The only people who thought different were cabinet.

This article has been updated and now includes a genuinely fantastic comment from @chrishipkins.bsky.social - thank you, Chris. It's so important for our rangatahi to see you standing with them like this.

Ngā mihi to the Greens for this statement and the support!

PATHA's statement follows: “This is a win for trans young people, their whānau, and the health professionals who care for them. The High Court has recognised the harm this ban will cause, and the significant issues in the decision Cabinet made to restrict access to this life-saving care.”

Friday 6pm, Hagley opposite the hospital!
December 16, 2025 at 7:26 AM
Ōtautahi, we’re rallying Friday from 6pm in Hagley Park at the corner of Riccarton and Hagley. No one is in support of this ban - every major medical body has come out against it. Let’s show that the public don’t support it, either.
