If you're in LA, visit your local branch. Or better yet, discover a new library and go on an adventure...

These spaces are in danger of extinction if we don't care for them. Support #AmericanLibraryAssociation and because today is #TakeActionForLibraries Day, let your representatives know that your library is important to your community.

Most of all, I love the promise that knowledge is freely available to anyone who takes the time, and that a community supports that for all its members.

I love a library. The smell of old books, the getting lost in stacks, the seemingly endless periodicals and media at my fingertips. I love the brutalist spaceship at UCSD, the intricate earthen tilework at UCLA's Powell across the quad from Royce, and the deco details at LA Central Library.

… an immersive experience that you can check out with your library card at a number of LA Branch Libraries. The brainchild of @lapubliclibrary.bsky.social Creator in Residence Andy Crocker , each one is a little adventure that all takes place at a local branch.

This week is #NationalLibraryWeek 📚 The theme is "Drawn to the Library," highlighting the many ways libraries connect people and communities. I recently re-discovered my love of libraries through "The Bureau of Nooks and Crannies" … 🧵

Let me know if you catch it on Hulu - you'll hear me as the English Voice of Hizuru Minakata, a badass with a sledgehammer (and a surprise 'related' character).

An illegal radio station, documented in a book, that inspired a play, that reunited so many KBLT deejays, and now this documentary. Hear the story from everyone who lived it - There's one more showing Monday 2/24 at 10p at Slamdance in LA or follow @40wattsfromnowherekblt (on IG) for more info.

That play, and this doc made me nostalgic for a time when even a place as big as LA felt smaller, when we saw people in real life and stumbled into groups of strangers who became friends, a time when KBLT built a community of deejays, artists, and listeners who were all in it for the music.

Filling those shoes and seeing the joy of audiences who discovered their inner pirate radio deejays was a reminder of why art matters in all shapes and forms.

'40 Watts' is extra special to me because I was introduced to the book of the same name by my dear friends @misterandmischief who asked me to be a part of their immersive play based on Sue Carpenter’s true story - as the voice of Sue.

It is a visual time capsule of the 90s and a testament to the spirit of punk rock, where taking back the airwaves was as much an act of rebellion as a means to be heard above the fray.
February 24, 2025 at 8:05 PM
So grateful to attend the premiere of "40 Watts From Nowhere" at Slamdance - the documentary film about KBLT, a 90s pirate radio station in Silver Lake that was the brain child of the unstoppable Sue Carpenter.

I'm Jenn!
For those who don't know me:
I'm an actress/voice actor - cocktail nerd who wrote many words on the history of imbibing; my geeky friends would call me nerd adjacent. If u like french fries, we can be friends.
