Lovely to connect with @uobrishistory.bsky.social, and to hear more about Victoria and Sarah's powerful books - on hospital colours and chronologies as overlapping and layered, and on mothers radicalised by and of the women's liberation movement. I've read both these books and really loved them 💖

Autism is back on the front pages. Why not read the book that my excellent @manchester.ac.uk @manchstm.bsky.social colleague Dr Bonnie Evans has published on the history of autism? It's open access and you can read it online for free.

Super happy to talk to research seminars, teaching groups, etc., on this project - whether on the painful process of writing (through the pandemic and two maternity leaves) or on the findings themselves.

Thanks!

The book discusses why, where, and when publics and policymakers care about identifying 'gifted' children? What kinds of hopes are placed on this group, once labelled? And how does it feel to be responsibilised for national and global visions of 'the future', and what avenues remain for resistance?

September, ahh!

Forgot to share this promotional code for my new(ish) book before - AUFLY30 on OUP's website.

Useful book for reading lists on:

- fluxes in 'elitism' & 'equality'
- childhood writing methodologies
- 'agency' as concept
- voluntary action and 'education' beyond schools

Almost but not quite too late to apply to present at the annual PGR/ECR conference of the Geographies of Health and Wellbeing group. It's at Bristol this year, 7-8th October. Special strand on 'blue bodies' but any research linked to health geographies is so welcome 🌿
