Um, not that I think the messaging was perfect but Harris SAID ALL THIS WOULD HAPPEN. What in god’s name do Dems have to do to believed? And why is Trump—a proven, historical, inveterate liar—believed at every turn? It’s maddening.

I am too lazy to truly research, but how many of these folks finding a million (b.s.) things to blame autism on are or are married to *ahem* men of a certain age. Isn’t THAT actually the main predictor? But dudes just can’t handle the truth and are all to happy to shift “blame.” Naturally to women…

The fact that they’re shuttering the whole show feels meaningful too. While Colbert is one of a kind, even a replacement host would likely skewer Trump. Comedians—good ones—punch up and speak truth to power.

I always found Colbert funny; pandemic made me love him. The lockdown shows—homemade and funky, with one on one Zoom interviews, full of jokes when possible, serious commentary when necessary—were a balm during that horrid time. Stephen’s humor gave me joy. His humanity gave me hope. We need him.

He certainly didn’t. But others writing his posts is nothing new. The over the top Jesus-y crap, though, is yet another layer of creepy. His team really does love this Christo-fascist stuff. We’re so screwed.
