And maybe part of the difference with side control in gi is attacking the neck with chokes has more options so people bring their hands up more leading to more Americanas.

I honestly don’t know if it’s a Gi vs no-gi thing, maybe more looking for an underhook from proper side bottom posture puts the wrist down by the hip all the time?

You know what’s crazy? Americana is much more frequent where I train. Probably swapped 3:1 the other way. When you collapse their elbow towards their hip the finish is much faster. Honestly don’t even need to lift their elbow off the mat most of the time, even with people who have flexible shoulders

And I definitely rolled the dice on including guillotine. I had a feeling I was going to be wrong. Mainly because I’m not a big guillotine finisher 😂

Guard in MMA are exceedingly rare. And I also bet that Americana/Kimura finishes from mount in MMA are also very rare because of strikes and guys subsequently giving up their backs trying to escape and then getting RNC’d.

It’s a personal preference to lump them together IMO. I prefer doing an Americana over kimura, but I’m thinking about it from side control top. If we’re talking setup from closed guard or half guard, probably not lump them together. But I’d wager that kimura finishes from closed…

Guillotine is the one that got me. I had kimura/americana on the list.

RNC, leg triangle, arm triangle, Americana/kimura, arm bar? (Not necessarily in that order)

Seeing Carney debase himself for Trump is revolting. I get it, as taking a hardline approach probably harms the national interest, but it’s revolting nonetheless. 🤮

It seems pretty bleak most days. Between the collapse of democracy and what feels like abandonment of climate initiatives I’m not sure what the future holds except that everything will be framed by existential crisis.

Anyone who thinks Smith will allow a fair election to happen in 2028 isn’t paying attention. Albertans need to take action, shut it all down and force the resignation of her government.

Netanyahu briefed American influencers today - TikTok is the "most important" weapon in securing Israel's right-wing support.

X is crucial too. “Musk is not an enemy, he's a friend. We should talk to him."

“Weapons change over time... the most important ones are the social media.”

A general strike is probably what this province needs. Shut it all down until the lady in charge resigns.
