I took the Brussels-Berlin-Prague night train last year, to avoid flying and for the novelty. I definitely wouldn’t call it a “sleeper” service, as I didn’t get a wink. The coaches were definitely the same ones I used for interrailing in 1993. Plus the back door wasn’t locked, which was terrifying.
So Basel-Malmö night train did not get a subsidy to even get it started
But a 3x a week service with knackered carriages is not much good
Small pots are cash are no solution - we need to look at the fundamentals of European night trains!
