It isn’t possible for PMs to be expert in all fields…or indeed in many. Which is why having the judgement to identify very high quality advisors and really listen to them really matter..

The Commons modernisation committee under Lucy Powell promised an investigation of MPs' outside interests and employment, and enlisted the standards committee to work on it.

Everything seems to have gone quiet.

Minimum wage goes up every year Mr Jack, with a target (from Brown and Osborne, just about achieved) of 67% of median wage

2023: Jeremy Hunt raised it 9.8% to £11.44 per hour. The living wage was £12

2024: Rachel Reeves raised it 6.7% to £12.21 per hour. The living wage is £12.60
