My constituents want me to focus on cost-of-living, jobs, NHS services, tackling crime & providing opportunities for young people.

They're not interested in who is comms director in No 10 or PM's chief of staff.

That's why we need to focus on the country & not look inwards.

PM has my support.
My response to today's news that the UK has slipped down the corruption league table 👇

👇My call for urgent reform following the Mandelson scandal.

The system is broken, but here are some ways we can fix it.
The government must now make ethics reform a top priority
Ethics reform can't be seen as a secondary concern or a nice-to-have. For my party, it is existential – and the government must embrace it.

The Greens in Gorton & Denton have serious questions to answer.

You can’t go round putting people’s photos & words on your literature without consent.

And then say it was a one-off when evidently it wasn’t.

How can you trust the Greens when they aren’t being honest on their own leaflets?
I have today been informed that, despite personal assurances to the contrary, the Green party have once again used my image and misrepresented my words on a second leaflet circulated in Gorton and Denton ahead of the by-election. I have now lodged an official complaint with the returning officer.

The House of Lords is at the heart of our democracy. It urgently needs reform.

Whether it be assisted dying filibustering or the fallout from Mandelson’s treacherous behaviour, this isn’t an academic debate.

The lack of adequate procedure & accountability in the Lords is damaging our democracy.
Reform of Lords planned after blocking of assisted dying ...
After The Observer raised the alarm, a new group aims to address filibustering and how to strip disgraced peers of their titles more quickly

“We need root and branch House of Lords reform now.

“Why, for example, is Michelle Mone still a peer when her company - which benefited from the ‘VIP Lane’ scandal - was ordered last year to repay the Govt £122m for breach of contract?”

The Electoral Commission needs to urgently investigate 👇🏻
EXCLUSIVE: Reform UK just broke electoral law in Gorton and Denton.

The party confirmed they sent out campaign materials without proper party imprint, something it insists was a mistake.

Thank you to @anneliesedoddsmp.bsky.social for organising this letter on Grok which I signed alongside fellow MPs 👇🏻
3 million disgusting nudified images were produced by Grok in just 11 days.

Existing safeguards don’t work; we need preventative measures for AI.

Our Chair @philbrickellmp.bsky.social speaks in a debate about the need for the UK to be far more robust in its response to money laundering and serious criminality on high streets across the country 👇

How is it that a church warden behind an interior design firm originally incorporated in the BVIs & tied to a Kazakh billionaire can make a £200,000 donation to Reform UK?

Source of funds not disclosed.

Farage has questions to answer.

The Electoral Commission must investigate.
Churchwarden linked to foreign-born billionaire is behind £200k Reform gift
The man whose firm made the donations will not discuss where the money came from, nor his ties to wealthy Farage allies who may not hold citizenship

After reviewing the story, @philbrickellmp.bsky.social, who is pushing for a change in the law to stamp out “routine abuse of our legal system to stifle accountability and scrutiny”, told @londonermag.bsky.social that “urgent action is required now to tackle vexatious legal claims”.

This is truly shocking - glaring holes in the UK’s AML regime which urgently need fixing.

I’ll be writing to Companies House next week.
🚨 🧵 1/ Alarming new report from The Times on how hundreds of billions of pounds' worth of property is still concealed behind offshore companies and trusts with no clear owner.

It remains far too easy to hide dirty money in plain sight in Britain.

A new investigation uncovers what is likely to be a mass breach of the government’s anticorruption rules, involving almost 45,000 properties

LOCAL LEASEHOLDER CONCERNS

Last week I wrote to the Solicitors Regulation Authority regarding concerns about a solicitor who owns a number of freeholds in my constituency and across the country by the name of Andrew Milne. You can read my letter below 👇

Only Labour can defeat Reform in Gorton and Denton. A vote for the Greens or any other party risks them getting in.

We are a tolerant, proud, progressive city and we don’t want their divisive brand of politics here.

On Holocaust Memorial Day, we remember the victims of the Holocaust and all genocides, and honour those who survived.

We must never forget where hatred and antisemitism lead, and we must remain committed to ensuring these crimes are never repeated.

🧵Now the NEC has made a decision, let’s get on with selecting a candidate and winning the Gorton & Denton by-election.

The last few days have seen the Labour Party quickly turn inward, spending more time talking about itself than about the country & undermining the PM's efforts at home and abroad.

Disgraceful comments by the President of the USA belittling the sacrifice of British forces in Afghanistan.

Many gave the ultimate sacrifice, and many of those who did come home live with the legacy of both physical and mental struggle.

He should reflect on his comments but sadly I doubt he will.

Defence has never been so important as it is today. In an unstable world the UK needs to ensure that it's resilient to threats from hostile states. In light of this I've spent time in recent weeks with our armed forces to see what resources they need to keep us safe.
