North Carolina (Raise Up 🚁) -> Nashville TN

Based on NT technology
Most of them have dramatically higher density and walkability. Their populations are relatively stable, not exploding like Nashville.

Typical Chicago neighborhoods are 4 times as dense as the densest areas of Nashville.

Nashville would take decades of infill to catch up.

So why wait around?

We need more buses quickly - & we just funded a lot of them in the latest CHYM funding round.

We need the airport to agree to give them priority lane access (as the airport is an independent authority).

We need the state to consent to our CHYM Murfreesboro Pk BRT plan (since it’s not our road).

It's amazing how much effort and cash they're pouring into this safe seat

I don't think this district will flip but the fact that they're forced to fight on fronts like this, which are normally safe gerrymanders, bodes well for the midterms.

They can't afford to do this in every R+20 district

Blue states really are different. There's a lot that can be done at the state level.

There is a lot of space between full MAGA like TN and fleeing the entire country

Not sure yet, depends on job options to a degree, maybe Chicago, maybe other larger cities.

Will absolutely not move anywhere redder than GA/NC though, living in TN has been a real test of my ability to compartmentalize / keep my head in the sand about the government

Congratulations! Atlanta and Minneapolis are both great cities that have more serious leadership.

We're shooting for 2026 too, but we only have a concept of a plan so far.

Local (in person) live music / art / theater / sports fandom still have the juice, each instance is unique but there are many opportunities!

There's got to be a solution, it's possible to build safer streets (even though Nashville opts not to), but when motorists feel free to be completely lawless they'll kill people regardless

Losing to Duke and State is the best way to go out, no notes

Removing existing residential STRs, which obviously will never happen, would be a start.

The behavior of these tourists is a symptom of a culture that Nashville is known for, and that won't change.

Realistically? The solution is moving somewhere without this specific form of tourism at its core.

Broadway doesn't exist in isolation. The sloppy drunks from the Morgan Wallen concerts are also my rotating cast of neighbors, who treat the entire city as disposable.

I'm happy when it's bachelorettes to be honest, I've already explained to my daughter why they put penises on everything.

tbf they have pretty rocks, not regular rocks

I agree, it's disappointing for the size of the metro. Peer cities are doing much better.

Reciprocity (and lack of alternatives in town) still makes it a no brainer, though.

It's a shame, especially in winter.

Heads should be rolling over the library debacle, yet we hear barely a peep. Local journalism is basically dead I guess.

The TN state museum is free but it's pretty limited. Adventure Science Center membership costs but is a good value (esp if you travel)

I love seeing so many 20-somethings bike commuting tbh

STRs, alcotourism

If you're in a part of town that is not afflicted, congratulations

Nobody can convince me that any economic benefit is worth the damage to the social fabric wrought by drunken tourists in residential neighborhood STRs

Me, a resident who is literally trying to move away because of this trash tourism industry:

Ok, enjoy that
