So this is 3 months after this comment, and after having a chat with @wishuponanidiot.bsky.social - yeah this hot take is just really solid. I like the game, I like playing the game - but it ain't THE game.

The lady literally trying to kidnap a dog to every witness, the inexplicable rules for the gremlins, the wacky half-inventions, the science teacher subplot - like there have to be multiple multiple deaths in this film GOD THE SKELETON scene for Stripe at the end is NUTS. What a bonkers film.

But this is nothing, there's just so many little moments of true true insanity. People talk about how there's not a lot of modern-xmas films/music - but as Elf even kinda proved - it just needs to be weird as hell, but work because it's Christmas.

Like Spielberg REALLY wanted a practical effect horror film, and he sure as shit got it. Chris Columbus however comes in with his writing (which I mean Home Alone/HP films prove he can just do a xmas film) and what we get is something that feels more like a Halloween/Xmas mashup than Burton

First off, I don't think I can properly convey this to some one who has never seen it - this movie is BONKERS. Truly so much of the decisions, the plot, and just what happens in the film is WILD AS HELL.

Also I don't think I mentioned this here from first time playing, but there's some sorcery that @suckerpunchprod.bsky.social did so that riding/running through forests feels better than any game ever. I can't fully explain why, but it's a real magic trick.

IN FAIRNESS Hades 1 is what I consider a "perfect game" so it's entirely understandable.

HELL YEAH
