And it continued, I remember as an apprentice on a course shown a faulty reed relay, a small fly in it (inside the glass tube). They just could not work out how it got in through the manufacturing process and but an example of "anything can happen".

I was an ICT/ICL 1900 Operator "back in the day" and had to load and unload those disks. The one in the picture is a relatively early one, but the later ones with more platters needed a strong right arm to handle :-) .
