Mostly here to talk about SFF stories and how to bring down capitalism. Sadly doubt they can be combined. Sports talk may also occur.

It's what the concept artists would have wanted.

Regarding the alleged arrest of “the girlfriend of one of the founders of Antifa.”

1) it’s not illegal to date someone.

2) antifa is a leaderless and loosely organized ideology, not a group

3) if antifa did have a founder, I’m pretty sure it would be a 150 year old Italian person.

I write full time largely because of one thread about getting high with the Irish president. As cringe as it is to admit, my entire life has been massively enhanced by Twitter and ketamine over precisely the same time that those two things have proven less beneficial for Elon Musk.

Has anything great happened in your life because of social media?

Not me. With Canadians I'll assume it's Stephen Harper, but I'll hope it's the bugger who ran over Kenny Jönsson in the 1994 Olympic hockey final.

But with a navy it's expected.

Also, that sure was a long way to say, "because it's been customary to do that in western European cultures since forever."

What’s the word where you’re from that, when pronounced exactly as it looks, identifies a tourist immediately?

Watching through my DVD-collection, and came upon one of the best premises for a heist-adjacent show episode in Alias Smith and Jones's "Wrong Train to Brimstone." Simple and elegant twist on the old train robbery plot.

Also, you get to play spot the future M.A.S.H. star.

New pod! @acollierastro.bsky.social wanted to do an episode about '90s country but unfortunately I made her do this instead. (I had fun at least!) We argue over the two early indicators of bro-country, "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy" by Kenny Chesney vs. "Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy) by Big & Rich

And thinking about the amount of time teenager me'd spend an hour or two looking after a baby or toddler when my parents' friend group got together, it's not even just "all adults."

My take is that bad lyrics can't stop a good tune from making a good song, but no matter how great the lyrics are, they can never save a bad tune.

It has a very high percentage of "it's the kids who are wrong" posts, doesn't it?

I'm inordinately fond of one that's just "Baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby I love you" repeated for a bit under a minute.

Given his ratio of seriously clunky lyrics to great ones, but surprised to see how many mentions there are for McCartney. And that's speaking as someone who'll happily argue that the chorus for She Loves You is one of the best bits of 20th century writing in English if I've had a whisky or four.

Presumably because Texas Krusty likes his lyrics.

Paddy MacAloon. Loads of great stuff, but my favourite verse is probably:

Here she is with two small problems,
And the best part of the blame
Wishing she could call it heartache,
But it's not a boy's name.
