Did you know there are three versions of Tetris for the NES?

There's the official Nintendo version that most of us played, and Atari also published an unlicensed version under their Tengen brand, but the first version was developed by Bulletproof Software

They're a lot like Golf games in that they end up being mostly about lining up a shot and then doing some quick timing based game. They tend to have similar music too; lots of pianos and jazzy guitars. All-round good vibes!

Someone like @techdweeb.bsky.social should do a tour of fishing games--everything from Fishing Derby on the Atari 2600 to modern ones like Fishing Planet. There were a lot of them on the Wii, the Sega Bass Fishing games on the Dreamcast even had a fishing rod controller like they did in the Arcade!

It's funny how Fishing games are considered "Sports" games for some reason. Maybe because fishing gear is sold in the Sporting Good section?

I liked Black Bass for the NES when I was a kid. Maybe just cause I was a country boy, but I still think they were some of the first "cozy" games.

Sports games are not well represented in RetroAchievements despite their getting a new version published every year. There's not a single Madden game in there!

I consider this validation of my never having liked any of them at all (except NBA Jam).

My fish, fish, died today. He was a good fish. He always watched me make coffee in a vaguely interested way, and tried to attack my fingers when I fed him.

the truck ships out as a set of assemble-yourself components in a crate and the buyer puts the end product together after arrival, presumably using included assembly instructions and tools, but perhaps requiring a few larger, more complex tools from their own garage.

You won the lottery. You want to fill your garage with collector cars; you already have a great daily driver. You have 5 car slots, you have $1m. What do you buy? #weirdcarbs

This was a great show last year. Lots of great animation, and thoughtful documentaries about #mushrooms the people who love them!

The premier is on Thursday here in Portland Oregon!
